If you would like to support the club and stand for election, please submit your nomination to the Secretary no later than 7 days before the AGM. Nominations must include your name, the role you wish to stand for (officer or general committee), and the name of a proposer and seconder. You may stand for a named officer role and be considered for a general committee position if not elected to that role. Nominations should be emailed to secretary@spaldinggymnastics.co.uk by noon Weds 29th April.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the continued success and development of the club, and we warmly encourage members to get involved.

*1 – CASC Community Amateur Sport Club

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a CASC club?

We are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC), a status registered with HMRC for local, not-for-profit sports clubs. This means the club is run for the benefit of its members and the wider community, with any income reinvested back into the club. We are not a private business. CASC status is similar in principle to a charity but is specifically designed for community sports clubs.

Who is a member?

A member is either: Anyone over 16 registered as a member to the club and paid the relevant fees; or for members under 16 their parent or guardian who will receive a proxy vote; And coaches or volunteer working at the club and registered to British gymnastics.

What does being on the committee involve?
Committee members help oversee the running of the club, make key decisions, and support club activities. The committee meets regularly (typically every 2 months). No specific experience is required, just a willingness to get involved and support the club.

How does the election process work?
Officer roles are elected first, followed by the remaining committee members. All positions are decided by a vote of members present at the AGM. Where there are more candidates than places, a ballot will be held. You may only vote in person at the AGM.

What other ways can I help the club?
The committee plays a vital role in running the club, and we strongly encourage members to consider putting themselves forward if they are able. If you’re not able to commit to a committee role, there are still other ways to support the club, including helping at events, our fundraising sub-committee, or assisting with specific activities. Any support is always appreciated

I have a question or matter I would like discussed – how do I raise this?

Any questions or proposals for discussion should be submitted in writing to the Secretary no less than 14 days prior to the AGM for consideration.
